Submission Guidelines

We are thrilled you are thinking about submitting to the York MSPRINT!!

Anyone can submit to The MSPRINT. We are always accepting articles, classifieds, missed connections, events, illustrations, photos, and potentially other content that you might want to see featured! All submissions should be sent to york@msprint.media as early as possible to guarantee inclusion in the next MSPRINT issue. The MSPRINT goes to print each month the week leading up to First Friday for distribution.

Articles

Each issue includes approximately 4 “full-length” articles. Articles will be reviewed by The MSPRINT team prior to publication. If we have any copyedits or content suggestions, we will send the proposed draft back to you for approval.

Article submissions should:

• Be approximately 300-800 words long.
• Specify how you would like to be credited.
• Focus on York-related issues that are directly relevant to local residents (popular topics include coverage of community spaces, political issues, arts & culture, and opportunities for activism).
• Include details about how others in the community can get involved if they want.
• Be completely original and created by YOU. Because we are passionate about maintaining a hyper-local and community-generated paper, we do not accept AI-generated content.

Events

Because The MSPRINT is distributed on the First Friday of each month, it is often necessary for events taking place during the first week of a month to be included in the previous month’s edition of the paper. For example, if First Friday falls on September 4th, any events on September 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th must be submitted for inclusion in the August issue.

The MSPRINT team prioritizes events that are free, community oriented, and unique.

If you are interested in submitting an event to be included in a future MSPRINT edition, please submit the event with the following information:

• Event name
• Location
• Date (or date range, if taking place over multiple dates)
• Start & end time
• Short description

Classifieds & Missed Connections

Classifieds and Missed Connections provide an opportunity for readers to contribute short notes for publication if they are hoping to connect with other members of The MSPRINT community.

Classifieds & Missed Connections should include:

• No more than one paragraph (3-5 sentences)
• Clear contact information if you wish to be contacted by readers

Images

All photos, illustrations, comics, and any other art to be included in The MSPRINT must not include any AI-generated elements and should maintain the local spirit of the publication.

Content should be high resolution and easy to view in greyscale. For specific dimension requirements, send a message to york@msprint.media with details about the content you are hoping to submit and the section of the paper you hope to contribute to.
